A 12-year-old boy with Down’s syndrome joined Pope Francis for a ride on the popemobile.

Peter Lombardi was with his family watching the Pope when a security guard lifted him over the railing so he could get a kiss from the Pope.

The child is also a cancer survivor, media reports say. He was nine years old when diagnosed with leukaemia in 2015.

While receiving chemotherapy in hospital, Peter saw the Pope on television and said he wanted to meet him. His wish has come true.
