Miranda Lambert-Blake Shelton divorce becomes he said/she said tale in the media – Fox News

As news broke of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s divorce, the media and fans scrambled to make sense of country music’s king and queen’s split.

While their joint announcement implied the split was amicable, media outlets quoted sources who claimed a variety of conflicting reasons for the divorce.

Just hours after the pair announced their divorce Monday, rumors circulated that Lambert had an affair with fellow country singer Chris Young — who denied the allegations on Twitter — and that Shelton had also suspected she was sneaking around with another man, who was not famous.

A new TMZ report claims Lambert is furious that she has been accused of cheating and cites sources who claim it was Shelton who had an affair with a country singer.

Shelton’s infidelity has been at the heart of tabloid rumors since their 2011 union. In 2014, rumors circulated that he was having an affair with one of his former “Voice” contestants and current backup singer Gwen Sebastian.

Sebastian spoke to FOX411 at the time denying the affair and saying she and Lambert laughed off the rumors.

“Honestly, I just don’t even look at any of rumors,” said Sebastian, who is married to drummer Louis Newman. “We all think it’s silly and stupid and we love each other. I don’t know how I can pay back Miranda and Blake — they’re just cool people and I love them.”

Some fans believe the “Sangria” singer’s PR team has been hard at work to paint the divorce in Shelton’s favor.

Meanwhile, The New York Post reports that Lambert and Shelton’s marriage crumbled in part because she did not want to have children. A source told The Post Shelton wanted to start a family sooner than Lambert did, and their varying views on children– plus their busy schedules– led to the split.

The pair’s divorce announcement left fans shocked, but did not indicate a reason for the split. A representative for Shelton told FOX411 this would be the one and only statement given to the press.

“This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” the pair told the Associated Press. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

Shelton filed for divorce July 6 in Oklahoma, according to documents obtained by InTouch. The documents show the singer filed in a different county than where he and Lambert lived and that the divorce was finalized on July 20. Shelton also filed for a “petition for protective order” which was granted and he used only his and Lambert’s initials in the filing.

The superstar singers began dating in 2006. They were last seen together in public on July 3, when they performed together at the Greenbrier Classic concert series in West Virginia.

Shelton is scheduled to perform July 24th at the Country Jam USA in Wisconsin and Lambert on July 28th in Nashville, Tenn.
