Bolivia election: Protesters set fire to ballot boxes amid result confusion

Violent clashes have broken out in Bolivia amid ongoing confusion about the result of Sunday’s presidential election.

At first, it looked like it would go to a second round between President Evo Morales and his rival Carlos Mesa.

But then it appeared that Mr Morales would win outright – sparking suspicion and protests.

Demonstrators set fire to ballot boxes and electoral offices in some cities.
