Updated college football national title odds – 247Sports

Quarterbacks have dominated the conversation much of college football season and rightfully so considering the numbers handed out by the elites.

But when the competition strengthens and Playoff selection are sorted out at season’s end, teams with solid foundations defensively might be best-suited to win it all on Jan. 13 in New Orleans.

Unbeaten Oklahoma, who has made consecutive trips to the Playoff, hasn’t been good enough on that side of the football during Lincoln Riley’s tenure and hopes to change that over the final six weeks and change according to veteran linebacker Kenneth Murray.

“Our mindset it to play physical each and every week,” Murray said this week. “I feel like we’ve done that this season. That’s what we’re going to do this weekend. We’re going to go out there, and we’re going to be us. We’re going to do us, and let the chips fall where they may.”

Oklahoma is one of a handful of teams this week with front-running odds to win it all this fall, according to Westgate Superbook’s Monday update.

Three one-loss teams who appear to be fool’s gold right now are Wisconsin, Florida and Auburn, based on updated odds. After the Badgers’ unexpected loss to Illinois, national title hopes dwindled to 40/1. Florida’s loss at LSU punched a hole in the Gators’ unbeaten start and sent their odds to 100/1 after opening at 25/1. And Auburn? Just consider the Tigers a longshot (100/1) with games remaining against LSU, Georgia and Alabama.

Here are the eight teams who remain in the national championship game picture according to Westgate Las Vegas Superbook:
