Then there are those actors who can’t get a good role because they had a major meltdown. And then there are those famous actors Hollywood won’t cast anymore because they’re a nightmare to work with.
Here are some tips for other famous actors to help them avoid the pitfalls of these unpopular actors. First up, don’t diss your previous projects. You’re only going to annoy people in the industry. And earn a bad reputation. Listen up, Katherine Heigl. Oh, too late, sorry. On the subject of saying the wrong thing, it’s never a good thing to go on a racist rant. If you’re in the public eye, expect this to have a seriously negative effect on your career. You hear that, Mel Gibson? And an unconventional personal life might not sit great with getting leading roles in big success stories. Hugh Grant, you might want to take notes on that one.
Of course, some actors start off really strong with well-chosen projects. And then they choose a dud or two (or five) and their career takes a turn for the worse. If anyone proves how one movie can kill his or her career, it’s Eddie Murphy. One word: “Norbit”. Same goes for John Travolta. Two words: “Battleship Earth”. And if you’re doing well in romantic comedies with a broad appeal, perhaps don’t go down an R-rated route. Cameron Diaz, perhaps you’ll want to rethink your future roles.
Some actors’ careers simply don’t live up to the hype. You might get a big break in a huge franchise. But that does not equal automatic success afterward. Just speak to Taylor Lautner about that little nugget of wisdom. The “Twilight Saga” didn’t act as quite the amazing springboard to a stellar career that everyone expected for Jacob. And “American Pie” could have actually held Seann William Scott back rather than propelled him onwards. One word: typecast.
