College football is supposed to be fun. That often comes down to who is playing who and the history/baggage they bring to a game. That’s easily achieved in the eight SEC games Alabama plays each fall. That leaves a four-game canvas for the outsiders to get a shot.
Given the current state of things, the Tide plays one big-name school on opening weekend, two lower-level FBS teams in September and an FCS team in November.
As it stands, Alabama has Florida State in 2017, Louisville in 2018 and Duke in 2019 for Labor Day weekend. To help new athletics director Greg Byrne, we’ve compiled a list of schools that would make for fun matchups with Alabama.
