Bill Maher Says He’ll Stop Calling Trump Voters ‘Stupid’ — But Only If They Meet Him Halfway… – Independent Journal Review

On this week’s edition of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the host offered to make peace with supporters of President Donald J. Trump.

Well, not exactly.

Maher said he’d stop calling Trump supporters “stupid” if they meet him half way — and stop being “stupid.”

He began by calling the President of the United States a “con man.”

“It’s not easy to admit that you’ve been taken by a con man. During the campaign, con man Trump said this about the high price of pharmaceuticals

[Plays a clip of Trump saying the following:]

‘We’re gonna get drug prices so far lower than they are now, your head will spin.’

That’s right, he promised to use his deal making super powers to get the drug companies to cut prices, but after the election, he sat down with the executives of Big Pharma, and what do you know?

It turns out the solution isn’t to get tough at all, it’s to cut regulations. F**k!”

Next on the docket were the Keystone Pipeline and West Virginia coal miners:

“He promised the Keystone Pipeline would be built with American steel. It won’t. He promised to be the savior of coal miners, but here’s the headline last month, Trump’s budget slams West Virginia.”

“I know you real Americans hate being called stupid, but you gotta meet me half way and stop being stupid,” Maher said, as he displayed a headline from the Charleston, West Virginia, Gazette-Mail.

Maher went on to skewer Trump over ISIS, jobs, and the wall along the Mexican border, mocking, “act now, and we’ll throw in a second wall, free!”

He admonished: “You can keep liking him, but just admit he’s a con man.”

In light of the failed GOP healthcare bill, perhaps what Trump really is is a businessman, who’s quickly learning that the “art of deal” in business, and dealing with Washington lawmakers are entirely different “deals.”
